8.     Political Arena
9.      Image Building
10.  Motivation Presentations
11.   Interviews

The first step in preparing a presentation is to define the purpose of your presentation.
1.   Informative :-
Keep an informative presentation brief and to the point. Stick to the facts and avoid complicated information.
2.   Instructional :-
Your purpose in an instructional presentation is to give specific directions or orders. Your presentation will probably be a bit longer, because it has to cover your topic thoroughly. In an instructional presentation, your listeners should come away with new knowledge or anew skill.
Explain why the information or skill is valuable to the audience
Explain the learning objectives of the instructional program
Demonstrate the process if it involves something in which the audience will later participate using the following method
Demonstrate it first without comment
Demonstrate it again with a brief explanation
Demonstrate it a third time, step-by-step, with an explanation
Have the participants practice the skill
Provide participants the opportunity to ask questions, give, and receive feedback from you and their peers
Connect the learning to actual use
Have participants verbally state how they will use it

3.   Arousing :-
Your purpose in an arousing presentation is to make people think about a certain problem or situation.
You want to arouse the audience's emotions and intellect so that they will be receptive to your point of view.
Use vivid language in an arousing presentation -- project sincerity and enthusiasm.
Gain attention with a story that illustrates (and sometimes exaggerates) the problem
Show the need to solve the problem and illustrate it with an example that is general or commonplace
Describe your solution for a satisfactory resolution to the problem
Compare/contrast the two worlds with the problem solved and unsolved
Call the audience to action to help solve the problem
Give the audience a directive that is clear, easy, and immediate

4.   Persuasive
Your purpose in a persuasive presentation is to convince your listeners to accept your proposal. A convincing, persuasive presentation offers a solution to a controversy, dispute, or problem. To succeed with a persuasive presentation, you must present sufficient logic, evidence, and emotion to sway the audience to your viewpoint.
Create a great introduction because a persuasive presentation introduction must accomplish the following:
Seize the audience's attention
Disclose the problem or needs that your product or service will satisfy
Tantalize the audience by describing the advantages of solving the problem or need
Create a desire for the audience to agree with you by describing exactly how your product or service with fill their real needs
Close your persuasive presentation with a call to action
Ask for the order
Ask for the decision that you want to be made
Ask for the course of action that you want to be followed
5.   Decision-making
Your purpose in a decision-making presentation is to move your audience to take your suggested action. A decision-making presentation presents ideas, suggestions, and arguments strongly enough to persuade an audience to carry out your requests. In a decision-making presentation, you must tell the audience what to do and how to do it.You should also let them know what will happen if the don't do what you ask.
Gain attention with a story that illustrates the problem
Show the need to solve the problem and illustrate it with an example that is general or commonplace
Describe your solution to bring a satisfactory resolution to the problem
Compare/contrast the two worlds with the problem solved and
unsolved
Call the audience to action to help solve the problem and give them a way to be part of the solution

Different types of presentations

QuoteWe rule the world by our words.Quote
–Napoleon Bonaparte
There are many different types of presentations that meet specific needs. These are some examples:
  • Sales: Outlines the benefits, features, and reasons to buy a product or service
  • Persuasion: Provides the reasons or support to pursue a particular idea or path
  • Status report: Details the progress of a project, a task force, or product sales
  • Product demonstration: Shows how something works
  • Business plan or strategy: Sketches out what an organization plans to do next, or articulates the company's goals

Sharing detailed information is not a good use of a presentation. Audiences will not remember detail. You can use a presentation to inform an audience about a major change or initiative, but use written forms of communication for the detail. Thus, your purpose drives the type of presentation you choose.

646. Life - Parents

Life - Parents

We are living in this world. The way we live indicates whether we live as valuable man, common man, addresses man, or etc.,

Life is a great struggle for existence. If we live for 50 years nearly 25 years we spend in sleeping. 10 years in education and search for a job. If we sleep in the afternoon also 5 more years we waste. Hardly we live for 10 years. In that short span of life, we commit many mistakes, go courts, fight with other people, because of our ignorance we lose a lot, because of misunderstanding we will lose with our own family members, etc. Sometimes we get doubt what is the purpose of this life. Why have we come into this world? After so much of struggle, at the end, if we analyse or summarise nothing will be there.

Struggle is a must to live in this world. We cannot understand the value, or depth of this world without struggle. Even if we grow up, ours mindset will be like that of a child. Anybody can deceive us, cheat us, exploit us, misguide us, pay less, and so on. We feel if these many crores of rupees are with us we will be very happy. It is our mistake. The rich too are not happy because they have to pay funds.

Work is a must. Otherwise we get bored up. We will not get respect. Simply coming into this world and going out of this world is meaningless. Then what is the difference between an animal and a human being. To live we have to work. If the work is as per ours choice or passion we will be the happiest persons in this world.

To live in this world we should have many qualities;
1.      Common sense
2.      Purpose
3.      Always think about ours aim to come into this world
4.      Even if rich, we should do minimum day to day work otherwise we will be treated as handicapped.
5.      Understand the people and their psychology
6.      We should not deceive but at least defend ourselves from the deception.
7.      Procreate
And many more.

For living in this world TIME is very important. Time that is gone is gone forever. Even if we lose lakhs of rupees we can earn back, but we cannot earn back “time”.  Many people have said about time.
“Time is money”
“Time is valuable”
“Time and tide waits for none”
“Time lost is lost forever”

In life the youth is such a thing we get everything at a time. Sex, power, education, adventures, achievements, and so on. They come together like a flood. Once the flood is over, once the youth is over rest of life we will be simply sitting at home. No work to do. Very few to talk to us. Little respect.   After crossing an age there will be nothing to achieve. All of a sudden we become alone. It is the best time either to lose or win. If we don’t have self control we lose. If we are well disciplined we can achieve something so that we can be something in this world. Then we realize that we have unnecessarily wasted our time.

We should have commonsense. It can only enable us to prioritise our decisions. A common man makes silly things as principal subjects. A great man can well prioritise the events of this life. Just because of not having commonsense most of our people, the journey is like the wooden horse that children play.

Secondly purpose is the main thing that encourage us to live long. Without purpose life becomes meaningless.

We say many things about life. But one thing enough to make our life meaningful. I made one quotation of Vivekananda the ultimate purpose of this life;

Wherever you are you prove to yourself, that you are the greatest.

We do many things in this world. We go to space, other planets, conquer the enemies, occupy many countries, etc., but we are mentally very far away. Today is the world where we can get whatever we want but mentally we are not close each other. At least in a life time we cannot come close with at least one man. One great man said;

Insaan aasmaa tak pahunch gayaa, magar insaaniyath ki manjil se bahut door hai.

If  our parents can give that knowledge, experience, how to identify people, how to get the works done, and so on, every next generation need not start life from A, B, C, D… That is why every generation is not developing cumulatively.
Eg., Deheeru Bai Ambani started his life from grass root level. By the he handed over his empire to his sons, it was 1,60,000 crores. Mukesh’s life which is his family’s second generation started his life from that figure and going up in life. In such people’s life from generation to generation they will be multiplying. Life becomes thrilled.
But in a middle class man’s life, every generation will be first generation.
But a poor man’s life even not that the same generation but only declining.

For a rich man children are investment. Why is it so?
A rich man educates his children, his business empire, how to handle people, how to enrich themselves, and so on. To him investing for anything on the children will be like investing on a factory. It multiplies. That is why the rich become the rich.

For a poor man children are income.
A poor man employs his children in a field as a worker, and whatever he brings should be shared by the entire family. Even if all the members are earning even then the total amount will be very little. If he has 4 acres of land, when he divides that it will be in fragments. The next it will further fragmented. Sometimes that fragments will be sold out for medical bills, in the second generation itself they will paupers. That is why the poor become the poor.

For a middle class man children are burden.
The people who study and get jobs can be called middle class people. They don’t have lands for cultivation. They are purely dependent on salary. He cannot invest on  his children, or he cannot send his children to coolie work. It is neither hell nor heaven. He hangs in between.

It addition this all the Indians depend on gods for help, for miracles to be done and their fate should be turned up so that they can become millionaires. Whether  these gods can bring change in these people’s   lives or not no one can say, but it is certain that these gods can become rich from the offerings given by these gullible people.
Lord Venkateswara’s annual income crosses 1000 crores. What does he do?
Of course people are giving so he takes.
Similarly the story of other gods.

One more example.
If we want to buy  ladyfingers  for we see many things.
Whether they fresh or old stock?
Whether they are delicate or hard?
If they are not touched by pests or other creatures?
And so on for hundreds of questions just for Rs.5/- for 230 gms. But before bringing children into this world no one analyses whether they have enough to eat? If a child comes into this world, can they feed them? Educate them? Give medical aid? Get a job to them? That is why producing children has become main occupation us. Our cinemas are also about love and marriage. In any film the ultimate goal is marriage.
No father who can give minimum requirements to a child like education, medical aid, train properly, guidance, encouragement how to fight in this world to achieve his goals, etc. has no right to bring a child into this world.
No father has right to handover poverty to his child.

Actually what is this life?
For what purpose we have come into this world?
Is it the mistake of our parents?
Can   worshipping gods solve our problems?
In India we are not treated like human beings. Even after 67 years of independence still we have per capita debt of Rs. 25,000/-
Of course our rulers are our own people, our own breed. How can we expect that miracles can be done.

One more thing of this great nation is the students are after girls, the people are after gods, the politicians are after money and power, the business people are after money and exploitation, …
Then who can save this India.

645. LIFE SKILLS

                                       LIFE   SKILLS

These skills are related to the head, heart, hands and health ie highly personal and behavioural skills which reflects our personality and naturally helps in personality development.

We manage and think with our head.  Resilience, keeping records, making wise use of resources, planning/organizing and goal setting are 'head' related managerial functions.  Service learning, Critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and learning to learn were related to our thinking processes, which we manage with our head.

Functions of the heart are relating to people and caring. How do we relate to people? We relate to people by accepting differences, conflict resolutions, social skills, cooperation and communication.  The second function we do through our heart is caring.  We care through nurturing relationships, sharing, empathy and concern for others.

We give and work through our hands. Community service, volunteering, leadership, responsible citizenship and contributions to group effort -- are our way giving back to society.  We work through our marketable skills, teamwork and self-motivation to get the things done.

Living and being comes under the functions of health. Healthy lifestyle choices, stress management, disease prevention and personal safety are our prime concerns for better living. Self-esteem, self-responsibility, character, managing feelings and self-discipline must be practiced without fail for our well-being. In a nutshell, the essence of life skills is share well, care well and fare well.
Things to do everyday
Follow these ten golden rules and enjoy every moment of living.
~ Greet your family members first thing in the morning. If you are not used to this, they will be surprised with your sudden and nice gesture.

~ Greet your peers, subordinates and boss once you enter the office. Smile at even the 'security' personnel standing at the gate, who takes care of your safety.

~ Greet your friends along the way and do not ignore them.

~ Continuously reciprocate to breed communication. If you do not reciprocate at least with a 'thanks' when you get information or a source on your online network or your offline network, you will not be remembered for a long time.  If you are not remembered, you are out of your network.

~ Be a proactive listener and empathize with others to command respect.

~ While talking to others, your voice, tone and tenor must be audible and soothing. It should not be aggressive or in a shouting mode.

~ Dress well to suit your profession and to create positive vibes in your workplace.  If you are a sales representative, do not go out with printed shirts and jeans, which may turn down your customer.

~ Political and religious comments must be avoided at all costs in the workplace, when you are in a group.

~ Your communication should not provoke others.
~ Do not speak ill of others if you can help it.
Be resourceful
Be helpful
Let your presence inspire others.
During a battle with Napoleon Bonaparte, Nelson, admiral of England said that if  Napoleon Bonaparte stands there it is as good as 10,000 soldiers standing.
Be sincere to the core of your heart.
The good that you are doing to the society is as good as the money deposited in the bank. The return will come one day.  Swami Vivekananda

644. Jeevitam – 9

Jeevitam – 9

1.      We should always have confidence on ourselves , experience, [prathibha].
2.      We should have vision [dooraalochana] for years to come but not bad thinking [duraalochana].
3.      Why should we degrade ourselves.
4.      We always experience fear. This fear complexion is pushing us ahead with out any profit. What is this fear?
5.      Geetha [the gnana given by Krishna] can change ours geetha [the line of fate].
6.      If we do our duty well, we need not be afraid of anything.
7.      Every action is an act of philosophy.
8.      We should strive to get atma gnanam.
9.      In the war Kurukshetra the warriors who had been fighting against Krishna knew that He is none other than the God himself. Still they were fighting. It was Maya. It was Moham.
10.  We always say that what that man has done or what this man has done. We should always ask what we have done.
11.  If we cannot question ourselves, we have to lose a lot.
12.  Tapas is a test of manas.
13.  The strength is not the weapon, but the strength is in the heart.
14.  The strength is not the weapon, but in the insult that we faced.
15.  As age prolongs one should develop one’s own dignity.
16.  Mahabharata is the story of ourselves,
17.  Lemon is sour, mango is sweet. Similarly men are also like that. We cannot change them.
18.  If somebody deceived us means it was our own fault. Or we don’t have the knowledge of that particular subject.
19.  To break the rules we should have perfect knowledge of them.
20.  The youth is such a thing we get everything at a time. Sex power, education, adventures, achievements, and so on. After crossing an age there will be nothing to achieve. All of a sudden we become alone. It is the best time either to lose or win. If we don’t have self control, we lose. If we are well disciplined we can achieve something so that we can be something in this world.
21.  If a man’s life meant only for two times meals then what is the use of this intelligence, experience, innovative thinking, etc.,
22.  If a man’s ultimate goal is only two times meals, why should he live in this life.
23.  A billionaire, a beggar, a thief, etc. have the same 12 billions of neurons in his mind, why one is becoming a billionaire, another a beggar.
24.  The world is so large we have enough to share. Each one of us can earn of share by hard working. We need not murder someone, need not deceive someone etc. If we put efforts, we can get equal to the percentage of our efforts.
25.  If we want to be successful, we should always be in the line of “DHARMA”.

643. Gita - Personality

Gita - Personality

Personality is needed to human beings.

Personality development is needed to those who have personality. If somebody has no personality, question does not raise for development.

For anybody to develop his personality, the essential things needed are
1.      Money
2.      Dealing
3.      Common sense
4.      Logical thinking
5.      Language
6.      Humanistic attitude
7.      Feelings
8.      Self analysis [analyze what he is doing, why he is doing, when he is doing, whether developing everyday or not, whether he is resourceful or not, …]
9.      Pro-activeness
10.  Resourcefulness

If we do not develop daily, if our awareness does not improve, we will like that saheb who was simply arguing on virtual topics.

-: Have your own views :-

After learning these many theories and anecdotes, you might have understood this world. Now whenever there comes a time, you start reciting whatever you have studied.

What I want is that, actually what is your own saying
to anything of  world.
That indicates yours own personality.

Your own views create impact on the society. So have your own view.
You may say there are heaven and hell.
There are 35 thousand gods.
We are facing whatever is written on the forehead.
And many more….
Do believe them?
Are you reciting them?
Have you really felt them to the heart?
To what things you stand for.
Have you guts to stand for?
This saying by different people changes from age, qualification, locality, teachers etc. in this world.
This saying by different people changed from generation to generation, country to country, traditional education, etc. in this world is good for our development fast to understand this world.

To live in this world one needs facts, not hearsays.

“Don’t see who said it, see what is said”
So while going through how Gita is said Krishna, see whether the said ones are facts, nearest truth, worthful to by heart, or practical things that you have experienced, etc.,

642. Generation Gap

Generation Gap

Marx said, ”Negation of Negation.”
One generation contradicts with the previous generation. It is because of fast developing changes in the world.

Life is a great struggle for existence. It is not a series of gig lamps symmetrically arranged. We should not be sure that after struggle happiness comes. There is no surety.

If we drive a motor cycle, we should be very alert; when to horn, when to apply break, when to stop, when to continue, when to take a turn, and so on. Otherwise we are liable to do accidents. Similarly travelling in this world we should be very careful.

We are not sure the next generation people cooperate with us or not. It is because they have their own strategies, weakness, etc. That is why a collector’s son cannot and need not be a collector.

In this struggle for existence,  a man starts something with his efforts and hard work. It may be founding a business, a political party, a religion, etc. As far as he alive, he is strong enough, his zeal is alive, he continues it. He faces any amount of oppositions, or problems, he is ready to face. After all it is his own creation. He cannot comply to any one for its failure because he is responsible for its welfare. Whether it is successful or failure, he is the only cause. He can take advice, he can take financial help, or any other thing needed in his for its survival. Additions and deletions are always are there and it must take. It is his own responsibility. His responsibility is
1.      To enrich and expand it
2.      Train his employees
3.      Train his siblings
4.      Protect it from all sorts of problems
5.      To maintain and transfer ethical values. So that the venture goes on from generation to generation successfully.
Eg.1    Dheerubai Ambani started his empire [1st Generation] and handed it over to his son Mukhesh Ambani and Anil Ambani.
Mukhesh Ambani and Anil Ambani [2nd Generation] presently running it smoothly.
6.      If not, very soon his empire collapses.
1.      Nehru [1st Generation]
2.      Smt Indira Gandhi [2nd Generation] later it collapsed.
Eg. 2 Shersha who defeated Humayun and came to power was a great success. Who came after him could not continue the same tempo. So the empire collapsed

It is ok. He cannot expect the same type of care for nursing his firm from the next generation. He cannot expect co-operation from the next generation. It is the first generation of creation of that venture. His empire may continue or collapse. In the history there are many instances.
Eg.1    Dheerubai Ambani started his empire [1st Generation] and handed it over to his sons Mukhesh Ambani and Anil Ambani.
Mukhesh Ambani and Anil Ambani [2nd Generation] presently running it smoothly.

Though certain ventures are started by an individual, making it his family business, there is no guarantee that it will continue in the second generation also. As time changes, if his own people are not competent enough, then to continue his empire the founder should make it a limited company and hand it over the reins to the next efficient player of the team.

Eg.,      1. Microsoft Bill Gates handed over the reign to Satyam Nadendla
2. ICICI Kamat to Kochhar
3. Infosys Narayana Murthy to Nandan Neelekani
4. Cuba Fidel Castro to Ravel Castro
If the handing over is based on efficiency the venture goes on from generation to generation smoothly.

For the smooth functioning, the leader should,
1.      Be proactive
2.      Have great vision
Eg.,      Ramoji Rao – Eenadu
3.      Be a prochanger
Eg.,      Azim Premji – Wipro
            Sony – Japan
4.      Be pragmatic
Eg.,      Narayana Murthy – Infosys
            Tata
            Deng Xiao Ping
            Thomas Alva Edison
5.      Be single minded
Eg.,      Alexander
            Einstein
            Gandhi
6.      Adopt best practices in management and ownership succession
7.      Maintain continuity of family values
8.      Always expand
“expansion is life, contraction is death.”
9.      Be mentally prepared for fluctuations
10.  Have an advisory board to check whether the ideas we get are correct or not.

Any company to survive
1.      Maintain quality
2.      Maintain sincerity
3.      Maintain good management skills
4.      Committed to share holders
5.      Always think “what next”

647. PRESENTATION SKILLS MBA I - II

PRESENTATION  SKILLS MBA   I - II There are many types of presentations.                    1.       written,        story, manual...
