417. 1] Ch. 1 Slokam 31

1]     Ch. 1         Slokam 31

Na  kaankshe  vijayam  krishnaa, na  charajyam  sukhaanichaa
Kim  no  rayena  govinda,  kim  bhoghai  jeevitena  vaah

Arjuna came to the battle field. His intention was to eradicate all the enemies from Kurukshetra. He promised his armies and warriors that he was going to do that and do this. After a great suffering, endurance, doldrums, misery, etc., they came to Kurukshetra. Every one was like hot suns to take revenge.

Arjuna requested Krishna to stop his chariot in the mid of the war field. He wanted to have a glimpse of the warriors. Krishna stopped the chariot. Arjuna had gone through the lines of armies and the leaders who were leading them.

Suddenly he entered moham. He felt  that whoever was standing there was somehow or the other related to him. He could not raise his bow and arrow. He dropped them on the ground. Then he told Krishna that he was not going to fight.
He clarified his doubts for not fighting, saying that,
1.      No victory could bring him peace
2.      He was not any success
3.      No kingdom could bring him happiness
4.      What to do with the kingdom
5.      What were the uses of those enjoyments and finally
6.      Why should he live in this world?

He started his own way of  philosophy.
It was negative philosophy.
A non-productive philosophy.
A philosophy that a warrior should not speak.
It was a cowardice philosophy.
He was trying to show thousands of excuses for not fighting.
His saying was such that he was the doer, he was the sustainer, and he was the redeemer.
He was the main hero but hurt wholeheartedly.
He had taken the sole decision saying that even if the enemy won the war, he had no objection.
After telling whatever he decided to do, still he requested Krishna to guide him in a right way.
He was always busy in his own works. He never bothered about the abilities, strategies, positives and negatives of his fellow men.
He was in a view that whatever he said would be the final.
