422. GITA 6 : DHYANA YOGA

GITA  6   :    DHYANA   YOGA

14]     Ch. 6          Slokam   5.
Uddha re’ daatmaanaatmaanam / aatmaa namavasaada yeth
Aatmaiva hi aathmanao / bandhu raathmaiva  ripunaatmanam

        After birth, people at a certain stage join school, then college, then university and so on. These things won’t come to us simply like that.

        We have to fight, do work hard and then only gain to the level of our wish.

        Things like money, encouragement, necessity, genes,  etc. can influence us to attain our goal.

        This is called uddharana means upliftment.

        Parents may give us money, teachers may educate us, but it is we who have to decide to come up in life.

        Childhood is ignorance, youth is blunder and old age is repentance.
If it happens because of our aimlessness the life flows aimlessly in the stream of jeevitam.
        If we have not enriched ourselves to the needs of society our manas itself asks “what have you done all through this life”?
        Answering the world is easier than answering the manas.
        Manas is an  entrepreneur. It is not so easy to pacify it. So  manas becomes ours  enemy to ourselves if it cannot answer it.

15]     Ch. 6          Slokam  34.

Chanchalam hi manah Krishna / pramaadhi  balavaddrudam

        Krishna was telling about manas. So Arjuna said that manas is very fickle minded. It is like a mad dog. It cannot stay at a place. Then how to control it. It does many functions at a time.
        If we are aimless, it takes us to wherever it wants. Because it is chanchalam.

        Actually it is not the problem of Arjuna alone. It is the problem of billions of people who reside on the Earth.
        Mostly people are controlled by manas. Where does it throw it us away we do not know.       Before it can throw it us away, we should know its nature.

        God has given all these facilities. Everyone  has a manas . But why only a few can elevate to great heights? The reasons may be
1.      Genetic
2.      Presence of guru
3.      Failures in life
4.      Adviser
5.      Friends circle and many more. or
We don’t know.

He said it was pramaadhi  balavaddrudam.
Pramaadhi = dangerous
balavaddrudam = very strong.
It is very dangerous because it encourages us to do anything.

It could make Hitler to throw the world into II world war.
It could make Dyer to kill hundreds of people in Jalianwalabag.
It can make Cleopatra to enjoy with thousands of warriors is Egypt.
It could make Eisenhower to drop Atom Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
What it cannot do?

The other side the same manas made
Mother Teresa to help the poor;
Arthur Cotton to had barrage built across Godavari and supplied water to thousands of acres of lands;
Mary Curie to donate the amount that she received from Nobel Prize to soldiers’ families who died in war;
Rontgen to donate the copy right of X-rays free to the people;
We  don’t know.

Ramana Maharshi says that “kim swaroopa miti?....”
Oh manas who are your?
You have been taking us from one birth to another birth.
Actually there is no exact location to this manas in our body.
Then how can it carry us from birth to birth again birth to death and so on?
Manas is such a one that it keeps us in bondage.
If the pujari says us to say “mama” that means we enter into bondage.

It can do many things.
That is why it is both benevolent and malevolent.

16]     Ch. 6          Slokam  35.

Asamsayam mahaabaaho / mano durnigraham chalam
Abhyasena tu kaunteya / vyraagyena cha gruhyate

Asamsayam  = there is no doubt in this
mano = manas  [ “manas” does not mean “heart” that is what generally people know]
dur nigraham  = very difficult to control or suppress
Abhyasena tu kaunteya = only by practice O! Arujuna
vyraagyena  = only by non-attachment

        That means manas   is so fickle minded one, that,  we cannot control it. We should never try to control it. We should explain problems relating to what works we have been doing. The more you try to control it or suppress it, the more it bounces. It is just like children who, the more you try to suppress them, the more they demand, nag, cry, etc. We should be friendly and explain them. Then only they listen.

        Manas  is also like the children . manas  is the creator as well as destroyer. It is an entrepreneur. We should never cause it to get irritation. The irritated manas only can cause terrorism, destruction, suicide, genocide, what not and what not.

        Actually for all the problems of the world, manas  is the main culprit. If we can understand its movements well and behave accordingly, it is the most obedient one. Otherwise it is worse than a demon.

        Why it is said vyraagyena ?
        Because only a  viragi can remain non-attached to karma phalam. If we are not after the worldly desires, the manas can remain cool. We can get peace of mind. That peace of mind can encourage us to do other things of the world.

        If we are after a thing and it won’t be materialized then wait and give a chance to god. If it belongs to us, it won’t go anywhere. If it doesnot belong to us even if we cause any influence it won’t belong to us.

As Ramana Maharshi said,
“dakkedi dakkaka maanadu, dakkanidi eppudoo dakkadu ”
Why should  man be after this world, these things, these people, this accumulation of wealth and so on. Nothing will come with us, even then man runs after the things.

“Try but don’t be mad after that”

But this manas is adamant to that.
An untrained manas is very arrogant.
It gets many questions and make ours life miserable.
I am the PM, then why doesn’t it follow me?
Why so and so beautiful girl won’t marry me? I am very rich. I give her a lot of wealth.
Why I loved so and so girl then how can she marry others? I will kill her.
And so on.

Actually who are we?
Before our arrival into this world, things happened as they liked.
After our departure also things may happen as they like.
But who the hell are we to dictate the terms, saying that it should be like that, like this, etc.
For this understanding only we have to train ourselves.
We should accept that whatever rights we have, the others too have.
That was what Krishna told Arjuna to do Abhyaasam.

Krishna observed that the Panvas suffered a lot because of Kauravas.
12 years they suffered because of not enough to eat.
12 years aranyvasam and one year Agnatavasam.
Even they went begging for food in Ekachakra puram;
Five gents adjusted with one  woman???

Today we get a doubt
1.      Whether they were warriors?
2.      Why not even one was not opposing self depression of themselves?
3.      Though the god was with them they could well utilise him for their upliftment.

        After undergoing all these tortures still they were sensitive, not ready to kill those who came to kill them;

        That was why when Arjuna said he was  ready to die instead of killing his own relatives  Krishna  did not encourage him saying kill them. Instead of that he was motivating him from cowardice to courageous nature.

        He realised that simply giving “war-cries” won’t encourage Arjuna because his manas  was in full of moha, a type of hypnotization.

        It shows that Arjuna was a grownup kid. Mentally very weak. He was irresponsible because the whole army on his behalf was waiting for his orders but there were none. His silence bewildered them.

        Through out Mahabharatha, the Pandavas did something and when a great problem came they prayed for His help. But they never took his advice whether to do such and such thing? What step they should follow next?

        When they realised that the gamble was a fraud, they should have revolted then and there. Dharma Raja going to gamble was another thing. Thirdly he had no right to bet his brothers’ wealth for his gambling. Fourthly he asked to save enemies from problems.

Was it their
Goodness?
Ignorance?
Inefficiency?
Madness?
Craziness?
??????

        Whenever Kauravas said a small thing immediately on that issue Pandavas used to investigate. First silly thing of the Pandavas.

        Most foolish fellows, the kauravas, enjoyed all through the life. Even Karna being in the company of the Kauravas, as a king of Anga Rajya enjoyed for many years. Second silly thing of the Pandavas.

        If look carefully at the Pandavas, we understand one thing. They wanted to be or remain forever as “Rama is a good boy”. Third  silly thing of the Pandavas.

        They did not realise that goodness is inefficiency.

        It indicates that even if god is with us and we don’t know what to do, then that privilege is mere waste.

        It was like an eunuch marrying Rambha.

421. GITA 5 : KARMA YOGA WITH BHAKTI

GITA  5   :    KARMA  YOGA
WITH    BHAKTI

13]     Ch. 5           Slokam   18

Vidya vinaya sampanne / braahmane gavi hasthini
Suni chaiva swapaake cha / panditah samadarshina:

        The scholars, highly educated people, or who gained more and more worldly knowledge, or we experienced problems  etc., realise that things are like that, like as created by the god, or nature. They are ready to accept things as they are. If we accept them there won’t be any problem.

A lemon is sour. Why?

        If people used to fight in “why” only then it is meaningless? They should search for answer.

        No. The age is such. In that age youth will be arrogant, having aimless questions, strengthless arguments etc..

        They are not ready to accept that they were like it, they are like it and they will be like it.

        But as ours age increases understanding develops. Peace of mind develops.

        If we cross that stage also, then we may become a sage like.

        Then we will come to that standard where we can see all equal. There won’t be any up and down seeing things.

        He is called Brahman. Brahman does not mean a caste but a great scholar.  Whoever has that much knowledge and understanding can be called a Brahmin?

Manu said that a Brahmin should have the following norms to be followed;
1.      Adhyayanam
2.      Adhyapanam
3.      Yajanam
4.      Yaajanam
5.      Tadhadanam
6.      Prathigraham

Bharathvadh Maharshi said that, “he who always speaks only truth is called Brahman”.
Uttamam vyavasaayam
            Madhyamam vyaaparam
                        Adhamam udyogam.

Shankara = sham karoti iti shankara.

Chandala,  who came face to face of Adi Shankara asked whom he wanted to go away.
Whether it is his body?           or
Whether it is his soul?
If it is soul, how can it be because it is universally prevalent? It is deathless. It is formless.
If it body to get it away, how can it be? Because it is nimitta maatram.

Shankara realised that it was none other than Shiva himself.

Bhakta = he who follows truly. / he who has unquestionable faith / sincere, committed and dedicated.
If a manta is simply recited then there is karma. There is no bhaavam.
A tape record can also repeat whatever is recorded.
If a man is doing the same, then what is the difference between TP recorder and human machine?
        Except some who are born destined with a purpose, most of the youth cannot understand all these things.
        There is no question of educating them.
        Today’s people or students have only two things in life
1.      Money
2.      Sex.
They don’t need anything.
        Most of the fathers are accumulating money in such a way that their children should not suffer.
The next generation will not be going to work hard.
Just like copy and paste, they too get certificates and get jobs.
        It will be the bad luck of those companies to train these students to employ them for a single purpose.
        They do not have vidya but certificates, they do not have vinayam but arrogance, they are not sampanne but empty vessels, etc.
        Generation gap can be easily seen.

        There is nothing like step by step but only jumps. There are many loops or limitations but pulling on. Most of the people are not living but enduring.

This looks very nice.
If people treat equal except in roti, kapada aur makaan, then comes the problems.

This goodness became badness or inefficiency.
For one thousand years the so called great India was ruled by foreigners.
When they came to rule India our people went to get jobs from them.

When Babar came to India, in his army there were only 10,000 soldiers and canons. With that he could easily defeat 1,00,000  soldiers of Ibrahim Lodi. Why?
The Indian were simply looking at the fights but could not drive all the foreigners from the surface of our India.

        When Robert Clive, after conquering Calcutta, was marching in the streets with only 1,000 British soldiers. On either side of the road, at least more than 1,00,000 soldiers stood to see the march-past. Clive wrote in his diary, “whoever was there, if each one had taken one stone and threw at us I should not have established the British Empire in India”.

        The ultimate aim of the Indians is to get a seat in the Heaven. Nothingelse.
