Krishna
told four
Yogas
1.
Karma
Yoga
2.
Bhakti
Yoga
3.
Raja
Yoga
4.
Gnana
Yoga
The second
thing that the Lord told after karma yoga is Bhakti Yoga.
In Bhakti
there is no action that is being done.
It comes
to such a person who got realised the essence of doing Karma Yoga.
Swami Vivekananda said,
“Idol worship is only to the beginners.
Once you attain that sraddha
wherever you are you can go into the trance.”
Idol
worship is a type of Karma Yoga.
Karma is
essential to live in this world, but it should not be the ultimate.
Ramana
Maharshi
says,
“Kartu raagnaya, praapyate phalam
Phalama kim param, palam tajjadam”
“kruthi maho dadhou, patana karanam
Phalam ashaswatam, gati nirodhakam”
By doing
one duty after another, we sink into the ocean of karma.
Finally
what we achieve is nothing.
At the end
of the life if we assess, we may come to conclusion that we accumulated so many
plots, houses, cash, children, etc.
But we
have not enriched ourselves mentally.
Ours life,
time, money, etc. everything is wasted.
Because
after gathering all these we pass away leaving everything to the next making
them lazy buggers.
Whatever
we gathered in 30 years is wasted mostly in 30 days by the next ones.
That is
why Bhakti yogis preferred Bhakti.
It
is nothing but
chanting the name of the god,
praising the name of the
god,
preaching
the glory of the god and so on.
By doing
this one can be in the nectar of the ocean of the god.
For
doing this
one need not be highly educated,
one doesnot by-heart the
mantras,
one doesnot
need any guru,
but what is needed is
but
the purity of the heart.
Among the
greatest Bhakti Yogis are
1.
Kabir
das
2.
Nanak
3.
Chiatanya
Prabhu
4.
Mira
Bai
5.
Surdas
6.
Ravi
das
7.
Annamaiyya
8.
Tulashidas
Etc.
These
people condemned futility in idol worship.
Kabir Das said,
“Paahan pooje hari milai to
Mai poojum pahad”
If by
worshipping a small stone if we can god then I will worship that hill from
where the stone is brought.
These
people developed their own literature.
In Bhakti
people should not
1.
Beg
god for that and this
2.
A
tender list should not be submitted
3.
Put
challenges to god
4.
Put
conditions to god
Instead
they should
1.
Whatever
comes in their way is a gift of god
2.
What
should be given He knows
3.
When
should be given He knows
4.
As
you ask, He won’t give
5.
If
you donot ask He won’t stop from giving
6.
There
are norms which are unknown to us
7.
With
little knowledge we should blame
8.
Should
realise that “paropakaram idham shareeram”
Where
there is truth, all the gods of the world reside there.
“dharmo rakshati
rakshitaha”
So the
Bhakti Yogis preach us
1.
To
be truthful
2.
To
be neutral
3. To be pure
4. Not to have grievances
By
following these eternal truths, bliss will be on us.
Whatever
we demand is very little.
If we go
to sea and bring one bucket of water won’t it will be foolishness.
Similarly
if the Almighty God is in front of us, why beg for alms.
We should
learn what to ask the God.
We
should remember that we are not sure whether there is life after this life or
not.
We have no choice to be born in that
Mother.
We have no choice when
to die.
But we have
the choice of living whatever way we want to live.
God has given us wit and
wisdom.
It is our choice to select the best
way to live.
As
we don’t know how to live, we go on criticising the god accusing Him that He
has not given that or this.
For
example if we live for 50 years
25 years
of life is lost in sleeping during nights or sometimes in the afternoons also
15 years
for studies, job searching, accumulation for future
Then we
are left with 10 years hardly.
“Life is a gift, enjoy it”
We do not
know how to enjoy life.
Even in
that 10 years also we get married, produce children, and strive for their upliftment
etc.
Then I
hope god himself cannot save such people.
Later
these type of people go from one temple to another, one stone to another, and
so.
Every time
they praise wherever they go saying that such and such god can only save us
from all these plights.
But they
never recollect that it is they who can save themselves from all these plights
but none else.
They
should study history and learn from it that
1.
No
god in this world could stop A-bomb from dropping on Hiroshima
2.
No
god in this world could stop A-bomb from dropping on Nagasaki
3.
No
god in this world could stop three crusades in which nearly 10 lakh people were
slaughtered.
4.
No
god in this world could stop 60 million Jews being killed by Hitler alone
5.
No
god in this world could stop Mohammad doing 82 wars to establish Islam.
To name there are
millions of such cases.
First of
all man should remember that
“too hindu na banega, too mussalman na banega
Insaan ki oulad hai, too insaan banega”
Secondly have
we come into this world to gather wealth?
Akbar
conquered nearly entire India, where is his wealth?
Alexander
conquered a large part of the Earth killing thousands. Where is wealth today?
He simply
wasted his life and killed millions of people to prove that he is great.
Today
after doing many scams people are accumulating
a lot of wealth. They have many problems like diabetes, BP, cancer, etc.
They cannot eat. Then what is the used of this much of wealth.
If we look
at the animals, they enjoy in this world, lead their entire life happily and go
away.
If we see
the trees they to like that and give a lot of food items to the others and go
away.
It is so
with the birds and others.
But it is
only the man.
This two
legged animal can never be pacified with whatever he has.
As William
Wordsworth said,
“getting and spending we lay waste our powers”
Then what
is the purpose of this life?
Gita says
“Life is a gift, enjoy it”
“Life is a challenge, face it”
“Life is a mystery, solve it”
“Life is a song, sing it”
“Life is a duty, perform it”
Thirdly
worshipping the god is as good as
serving his fellow men.
That
was what Mother Teresa did,
Bhakti
is of many types.
1.
Buddha
said fourfold path
2.
Bhakti
in the form of service – Florence Nightingale, Mother Teresa, ….
3.
Bhakti
in the form of good advice – Ramana Maharshi, Adi Shankara, ….
4.
Bhakti
in the form of help –
5.
Bhakti
in the form of giving education –
6.
Bhakti
in the form of following the Truth –
7.
Bhakti
in the form of quenching somebody’s hunger – Rantidevudu, Dokka Seetamma garu,
Raghavendra Swamy’s Temple organisers,
And
so on.
In
short whatever we do, if it is benefited by millions of people is also a
Bhakti.
By
birth the Hindus are the Vedanthists.
The
Hindus never occupied others lands or kingdoms and introduced imperialism.
The
Hindus never killed people in wholesale.
The
Hindus never always welcomed new ideas or thoughts.
The
Hindus always treated the human beings as human beings.
The
Hindus suffered others imperialism.
Bhakti
is such, it is not inefficiency but tolerance.
God
says
he who is away from so many things,
away from the common
ailments,
away from
the tenders list to be submitted to Him and demand etc.
He
wants Gnanam.
All
the other things make us to in the fetters of bondage.
Gnana
is the only thing that liberates man, that emancipates man.
As
Gnanam is harder, the next easy thing is Bhakti.
It
is said that the god likes the people who are disciplined.
He
who is self disciplined is an asset to the society, to his fellow men, and
finally to the nation.
